Q: What does the bracket structure look like? Is the tournament geared at finding an overall winner or at getting to play as much as possible?
A: Tournament structure will be exhibition style, so we will focus solely on playing as many games as the skaters can cope with and/or want to play. There is no overall competition as such – they will all be winners!
Q: We cannot roster a full team. Can we still sign up?
A: Yes, we aim to include as many junior skaters as possible. Therefore we will be making teams out of partial groups. After the sign up process is complete we will be in touch regarding skaters level and set the teams accordingly.
Q: Is it easy to get to the venue with public transportation?
A: Yes, we recommend that you use the S-train system. Find directions here.
Q: Is there any accommodation provided for the skaters and their crew?
A: Yes, there is a nearby school that we have booked for the teams and max. 4 adults. Please find more information about this on the Team Sign up page.
Q: Can juniors sign up for volunteer work as officials and announcers?
A: Yes, we absolutely encourage juniors to volunteer as announcer or official – both on and off skates. they are just as important a part of junior derby. there will be opportunities for them to officiate and receive feedback and tips from the senior officials. Please find more information about volunteering at CAT here.
Q: One of our skaters has food allergies. Can you arrange a special menu.
A: Certainly. We have ensured that there are vegetarian and vegan options available at all meals. If one of your skaters has specific needs, we will ask the cafeteria to cater for that. Please ensure that we get this information when you sign up or well in advance of tournament start.
